Students will complete a diagnostic screening of a computer determining if the computer will be refurbished or torn apart. Computers that can be refurbished are disassembled, physically cleaned, memories removed, updated with new software and donated to individuals in need. computers that cannot be refurbished are disassembled into various components. Our students will complete this process, dividing components for placement into recycling bins of steel, aluminum, copper wiring , and plastic. These components make up the bulk of the body of a computer and all will be recycled. Gordon Iron and Metal, Inc. agreed to place recycling bins on our campus, purchasing these components. Sprout Metals has agreed to recycle E-Waste and work with S i T in various ways.
We are currently looking for equipment donations for our Students in Training program. Laptops, desktops and tools such as screwdrivers = will be used to teach our students technical skills they can use to better their futures.
